Gillnet size selectivity of shark and ray species from Queensland, Australia

چکیده

Gillnets are size-selective fishing gears commonly used by industrial and small-scale fishers, so understanding selectivity can aid fisheries management identifying suitable mesh sizes to optimize catches of target species while reducing bycatch. Few size parameters have been estimated for sharks, with even fewer rays. Size selection were seven sharks two rays from the Queensland East Coast Inshore Finfish Fishery (ECIFF). frequency data a fishery observer program on ECIFF vessels was fit standard model. Mesh independent parameters, θ1 θ2, each define curves different species. Parameter values compared previous studies that same method. Estimates similar among within genus, such as Carcharhinus, Rhizoprionodon, Sphyrna. Anoxypristis cuspidata had largest θ2 values, likely because its toothed rostrum affected catchability in gillnets. Our findings be other gillnet recommendations risk mitigation.

This document presents a formal abstract syntax in Z for fragments in the CARE language. Constraints are included which deene the \semantic checks" which deene well-formedness of fragments.

We have recently extended the sequential refinement calculus to handle real-time programs. A novel deadline command allows execution time limits to be expressed in a high-level language. The calculus allows refinement steps that separate timing constraints from non-timing requirements. Rules are provided for handling timing constraints, but the refinement of components implementing non-timing r...

This paper presents a framework for compositional verification of Object-Z specifications. Its key feature is a proof rule based on decomposition of hierarchical Object-Z models. For each component in the hierarchy local properties are proven in a single proof step. However, we do not consider components in isolation. Instead, components are envisaged in the context of the referencing super-com...

The demands placed on programmers by the needs of safety-critical systems mandate the use of formal methods, supported by an integrated toolkit, throughout software development. Many formal speciication, design and veriication techniques have been proposed in the past. As the next step in the maturation of these techniques we are aiming to integrate previously disparate methods. Our overall met...

Acoustic characterisation of bycatch mitigation pingers on shark control nets in Queensland, Australia

The Queensland Shark Control Program (QSCP) uses pingers to prevent marine mammal entanglement in shark control nets along public beaches, in Queensland, Australia. Acoustic emissions of Fumunda F3 (designed for humpback whales) and F10 pingers (designed for dolphins) were measured and characterised. The acoustic signals consisted of tones (3 and 10 kHz, respectively) and harmonic overtones emi...
